      <image:caption>Cybersecurity is a strategic priority for Australia’s national security and the country’s critical infrastructure. The Holmes Institute Cybersecurity Research and Innovation Centre allows Masters students to conduct their research assignments with the supervision of research fellows and the grants them the opportunity to become research assistants. We have a commercial focus on developing new cybersecurity products in the IoT using highly qualified research fellows, assisted by Masters level students.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Faculty - Dr Mohamed Elyas Cybersecurity, Research Fellow</image:title>
      <image:caption>Dr Elyas is a research fellow and founding member of Holmes Institute’s Cyber Security Research and Innovation Centre (CSRIC). Dr Elyas is leading a number of research projects at CSRIC with a focus on the security and privacy of the Internet of Things (IoT). Dr Elyas is also a lecturer at the Department of Business Information Systems at Holmes Institute where he teaches and coordinates computer programming. Additionally, Dr Elyas is currently the Chair for the Staff Research and Development Committee, the Chair for Human Research Ethics Committee, the Coordinator for the CSRIC’s Industry Advisory Board and the Coordinator for Holmes Staff Training Program. He is also a member of the Executive Council of IoT Alliance Australia, which is the peak body for IoT in the country. Dr Elyas completed an exhaustive scientific review where the major security and privacy challenges faced by the Internet of Things were identified. Based on the findings, a cybersecurity awareness program for the Internet of Things was developed. Dr Elyas currently takes part in various collaborative projects with the industry including a film-based cybersecurity awareness program with Oceania Cyber Security Centre and Melbourne University and a cybersecurity certification program for LoRaWan devices with NNN Co. Apart from research, Dr Elyas has strong exposure to industry practices in the cybersecurity space stemming from a two-year work experience at a managed security services firm. Dr Elyas’s research has been published in high-impact journals such as Computers &amp; Security and Journal of Computer Information Systems. His research areas of interest include IoT security and privacy, information security policy and standards, and cybersecurity awareness.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Our Faculty - Dr Shuiyin Liu Cybersecurity, Research Fellow</image:title>
      <image:caption>Dr Shuiyin Liu is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Information Systems, Holmes Institute. He is leading the technological theme of Holmes Institute’s Cyber Security Research and Innovation Centre (CSRIC). He received his PhD degree in 2011 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London, UK. Between 2012 and 2018, he was with Monash University, Australia, as a research fellow in the field of information security and wireless communications. His research was supported by the Australian Research Council (ARC). Dr Shuyin Liu currently takes part in several research projects with National Narrowband Network Communications (NNN Co.), including developing lightweight cryptosystems for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. He also collaborates with researchers at Monash University, working on communications technology, wireless security, and coding techniques for IoT communications. His research has been published in high-impact journals such as IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. He is a Member of IEEE, a member of the IEEE Communications Society, and IEEE Information Theory Society. He was a Technical Program Committee Member for 2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications in China. He was the Local Arrangement Chair of 2016 Australian Communications Theory Workshop at Melbourne. He was selected as 2017 Exemplary Reviewer of IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. His research interests include information security, cryptography, wireless communications, IoT, and coding theory.</image:caption>

He has been CEO, a Director and Chairman of over 25 Companies, from startups to 10 listed ASX Companies as well as Chairing PayPal Australia for the last 8 years.   Currently, David is Chair of   DiscoveryAG – unlisted Agtech business Canopus Networks – unlisted AI business NNNco – an IOT communications business PayPal Australia – registered bank payments business IOTAA – the Australian IOT Alliance   He is also on the Board of AllthingsEncypted – a cybersecurity enablement business Turratech – an App development business And serves as an Industry Advisor – The Holmes Cyber Security Research and Innovation Centre AGL Limited David is a passionate yachtsman who has sailed in many international ocean races.       <image:title>Industry Advisory Board - Dr Atif Ahmad</image:title>
      <image:caption>Atif is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne’s School of Computing &amp; Information Systems where he serves as Deputy Director of the Academic Centre of Cyber Security Excellence. Atif leads a unique team of Cybersecurity Management researchers drawn from information systems, business administration, security intelligence, and information warfare. He has authored over 100 scholarly articles in cybersecurity management and received over AUD$4M in grant funding. Atif is an Associate Editor for the leading IT security journal, Computers &amp; Security. He has previously served as a cybersecurity consultant for WorleyParsons, Pinkerton and SinclairKnightMerz.       <image:caption>Sean B. Maynard is an academic based at the School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, Australia. Sean has over 25 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive training levels. His teaching specialities include Information Systems, Information Systems strategy and governance, database, and data warehousing. He received his PhD in Information Security from the University of Melbourne in 2010. His research interests are in the management of information security specifically relating to security policy, security culture, security governance, security strategy, security analytics, and incident response. He has also published in the area of decision support systems, and business analytics, particularly in capability maturity. He has over 80 publications.       <image:caption>Amir specialises in the areas of AI, IoT, cyber and risk Big Data analytics, and software architectures and has more than 12 years of experience in the IT industry with 10 years focused on building cloud-based products, data management solutions and advanced analytics. Amir co-authored a number of research papers and books including “Internet of Things Principles and Paradigms” which was published by Morgan Kaufmann, Elsevier. He is a regular contributor at leading conferences on topics including algorithmic intelligence, IoT, Big data processing, and cloud computing.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Industry Advisory Board - Mr Stephen Nagle</image:title>
      <image:caption>Mr Stephen Nagle Stephen Nagle has been involved in the Australian Higher Education sector since 1988 as an Executive Director of the Holmes Education Group. Previous to that time he worked as an interpreter/translator in Hamburg, Germany. As the CEO of Holmes Institute, he has been instrumental in establishing Holmes as a leading private higher education provider with campuses in Victoria, NSW and QLD. Over a 20 year period, Mr Nagle has supervised the accreditation of 4 Masters degrees and 4 Bachelor degrees across a diverse platform including Business Administration, Fashion and Information Systems. Following extensive research in Israel and Australia, Mr Nagle established the Cyber Security Research and Innovation Centre with funding from Holmes Institute in 2018. The centre is designed to complement the Information Systems Faculty at Holmes. High level research in cryptography and security provides masters’ students with the opportunity to interact with research fellows whilst carrying out project work as part of their degrees. Mr Nagle is also actively involved in the IoTAA (Internet of Things Association of Australia).</image:caption>
